" MY WORK IS A MODERN TAKE ON VINTAGE AESTHETICS WITH THEMES IN FLORAL AND CHILDREN PORTRAITURE. MY HOPE IS TO CREATE TIMELESS WORKS OF ART THAT ARE REMINISCENT OF FEELINGS OF HOME." Christie Macey is a southern artist, originating from Texas and currently residing outside of Atlanta, Georgia with her husband and five children. After graduating from the University of Houston with a Bachelor in Art, she began a career as an art teacher. Since 2010 she has taught middle school and high school art, with hopes of inspiring younger generations to recognize the creativity in and around them. In addition to teaching and raising her family, she is pursuing her dream of being a working artist. Christie draws her inspiration from home; a place where God is the head of the house, the doors are always open, unconditional love is the motto, and the sound of children is the theme song. Her artwork reflects her love of motherhood, children, and nature. Christie works in a variety of media, including acrylic, oil, watercolor, pastel and charcoal, often combining to create mixed media works. The process of creating art is a form of prayer for Christie and is best summed up by the words of Pope Benedict XVI. "Art is capable of expressing, and making visible, mans need to go beyond what he sees; it reveals his thirst and his search for the infinite. Indeed, it is like a door opened to the infinite, opened to a beauty and a truth beyond the everyday. And a work of art can open the eyes of the mind and heart, urging us upward."
