Debby Alphin is a native Charlottean, who graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and worked first in advertising and later in software design. In 2003 after raising a family, she decided to pursue a second degree in architecture and began taking drawing and painting classes in order to create an entrance portfolio. The art won out and she began painting full time. She works primarily in oils, but will use pencils, oil pastels, scrapers, collage, sand paper and any other tool that will add interest and dimension to her work. She has been fortunate to study with Elizabeth Ross, Andy Braitman, Nancy Franke, Jeanette Le Grue, DavidShevlino, Gary Weiss, and Gary Bodner. The California abstract artist, Nicholas Wilton, has been an incredible teacher and mentor.
