About the Artist

My love of art began at an early age growing up in New Iberia, Louisiana, and it has flourished in recent years into a true passion. My formal education includes a Bachelor’s degree in psychology from Louisiana State University and a Master’s degress in social work from Tulane University. Throughout my career as a social worker, and in my current role as wife and mother, artistic expression has always been a part of my life.

As a self-taught artist, my inspiration is primarily drawn from the marshes, prairies, and coastline of Louisiana and the surrounding Gulf region. Abstract themes are another area of interest, in which I use textured mediums and palette knife work to achieve varying layers of depth. The inter-connection between creative expression, psychological well-being, and a connection to nature is the driving force that pulls me to the easel everyday. Whether near the beach, on a lake, or in a boat in the murky swamps and bayous of Louisiana, the serenity that comes while in the presence of water is a feeling that is expressed in nearly every one of my paintings. The paint that flows from my brush to the canvas is always connected to my inner emotions and desires of the heart.
