We love being able to connect with collectors near and far, but we’ll be the first to admit that there are some aspects of art that are more challenging to convey online. So we figured we’d try to slowly tackle each of these challenges to help make “seeing” the art from wherever you are just a little bit easier!
Starting with...texture! Here’s why we LOVE it:
- Paintings are almost never a completely flat surface. Every mark an artist adds to the canvas builds up the surface texture—something that can’t be replicated in a print or reproduction, setting original artwork apart.
- Texture, even when subtle, reveals the artist’s presence in the work. Whether you’re seeing the pressure of a palette knife, the small sweep of a brush, or a hint of layers from the past, texture shows the artist’s physical gestures and the story of how it was made.
- Mixed media and different materials bring depth and movement to paintings through texture. The tactile experience lends a new dimension to the piece, making it feel sensory, dynamic, and alive.
With that in mind, let’s take a closer peek at some of our gallery’s texture fanatics below. If you ever need more images of a painting you have your eye on, that’s why we’re here, so don’t hesitate to reach out!
Look at art, be happy. :)
